Casa Alegre orphanage in Chiapas, Mexico
Celeste and Michael Peters just returned from a very meaningful trip and they write: Our hearts are so full! We don’t know how to begin to thank you for your prayers and financial help to allow us to go and love on these precious little ones!! Several new children accepted Jesus for the first time! One amazing precious little one, an 8-year-old blind girl, fairly new to the orphanage tells us she sees Jesus’ eyes. She has ongoing conversations with Him and is so joyful! What a blessing it is to us to have the opportunity to pour into the lives of these abandoned ones.
Please pray for clear direction for the Peters’ family in 2016.
We are planning a return trip early next year to begin to lay some groundwork for a move. Our hearts are really focused on assisting the older girls to have a transition home and good family model to prepare them for the move from the “institution” onto independence and the responsibilities of life. Please be praying with us!!
Good News ‘Buenas Nuevas’ Churches in Cuba
Cuba got a lot of attention this year with regular headline stories in our national news. The sense on the ground in Cuba is one of anticipation and excitement for what God is doing. For Elizabeth and John, this year in Cuba brought back memories of their work in Holland in the early 90’s, helping believers in Eastern Europe when the Soviet Union unraveled. This is a critical time to walk beside our friends in Cuba as they face new opportunities and new challenges.
This year we’ve also forged new friendships and collaborated on national projects in Cuba with the Assemblies of God and the Evangelical League (‘Liga Evangelica’). It’s so moving to see Paul and Vera Northrup’s prayer for true Christ-centered unity among believers actually taking place in Cuba.
There are exciting projects developing for Cuba in 2016!
In January John will be back in Cuba for the pastor’s conference of the ‘Buenas Nuevas’ churches. Please pray that the pastors and house church leaders will be encouraged and empowered. These are wonderful, godly people who face overwhelming odds. Thank you for making this kind of ministry possible—it is making a huge difference!
